What You'll Hear:
  • Shawn was raised Catholic in Tyler, TX and is still Catholic
  • When he was in the 8th grade he went to a large Pro-life event and heard a woman speak about how she had run abortion clinics originally, and Shawn got convicted to get involved in the Pro-life movement
  • In college Shawn was dating his future wife and she would pray at abortion clinics and offer alternatives so he joined her
  • He got hooked and become a sidewalk counselor
  • They did the first 40 Days for Life campaign in 2004, which included prayer, fasting, community outreach, and a non-stop peaceful vigil.
  • At its foundation, this movement is about prayer
  • In 2007, they launched it as a nationally coordinated effort.  It has since spread to 770 cities and over 50 countries
  • Women get an abortion because they think they don't have a choice
  • Hearts and mind are changing.  Pregnancy resource centers outnumber abortion providers 3 to 1.  Since 1991 over half of the abortion providers have closed.
  • The conversion gate has only swung in one direction
  • The election of Donald Trump has definitely elevated the Pro-life issue.  He has delivered on his promises other than defunding Planned Parenthood.
  • There's 3000 abortions every day in the U.S.  Every year in the world there are 56 million abortions, that's equal to all other causes of death combined
  • We've seen 15,000 Moms turn around at the very last moment and 177 workers have had a change of heart and left their job at the abortion clinic.
  • Planned Parenthood stats show the no-show rate for their employees during a prayer vigil can be as high as 75%
  • We're approaching the 100th abortion clinic to close their doors as a result of a campaign, one of which is their headquarters.
  • One reason Planned Parenthood hasn't been defunded is because of its potential impact on Medicaid
  • They have not gotten much national press coverage but they get tons of positive local news coverage
  • One of our biggest compliments came from the ACLU who said this is the greatest threat to choice because it's so well organized and it's local
  • In Canada and the UK you cannot talk about Pro-life within 50 meters of an abortion clinic.  This has been tried and shot down every time in the U.S.
  • I don't think anyone takes advantage of Freedom of Speech more than the Pro-life movement.  We do this as a patriot duty.
  • In Shawn's book "The Beginning of the End of Abortion", there's a lot of hope.  It includes 40 true stories.
  • There was a shift starting about 15 years ago when it started to become OK to talk about abortion
  • The U.S. is the standard.  We've exported abortion but we've also exported the solution
  • One story from the book is about a pregnancy center that was next to an abortion clinic.  They built a chapel on the other side of the wall from where the abortions were being performed.  The abortion doctor heard people singing and praying and he decided to quit and his abortion facility closed.
  • One guy from Green Bay got involved and challenged men to take the night shift for a prayer vigil
  • We are in an epic battle to live for Christ
