Christian Men at Work Podcast

S - Revolving doors, at work there's more turnover than ever before, less loyalty to employers (Some good and some bad), result is you don't work around the same people, also more change within the organization, most people (with a few exceptions like spouse, parents, children), come and go in our lives and likewise we come and go in others' lives, it's that time of year where I take a fresh look at life and goals, we sent off our 2nd daughter to college (close by) big change to have her sleeping elsewhere, as with 1st daughter made me think about how we have limited time with people in general and with family want to maintain a relationship but there are significant changes like this, important to make the most of the time we have with the people in our lives, I've made mistakes, it's never too late to improve/repair relationship with kids who have left home, if they are still at home appreciate the unique opportunity you have to spend a lot of time with them, wrote a blog post several years ago after I canceled my YMCA membership after having diligently going in mornings to swim, got to meet and get to know several people, we could have exchanged numbers but reality was I never saw them again, similarly with job changes even though there's social media opportunities like LinkedIn relationships changes, season of life, other examples are interactions not relationships like moments pumping gas, begs the question what does it mean to "make the most" of our time with other people, whole other discussion, love above all things and follow the great commission, you don't know how long you'll have at work with someone (they or you could die, be reassigned, change jobs)

E - Mary Jo Sharp, confidentapologetics.com, interviewed by John Stonestreet on Breakpoint, raised secular in Portland, had band teacher she respected so much she later became a band teacher, he didn't try to evangelize the whole but built the relationship and earned her respect to set up this moment but still had to have the courage to do this, it was bid risk, sharing that with her was more important than keeping his job

L - Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else. 1 Thessalonians 5:12-15 NIV
